“The angels beheld the entrance of the Most-Pure One and were amazed, how has the Virgin entered into the Holy of Holies “

Thus, when She was three years old, Her holy righteous parents, Joachim and Anna, decided to present her to the service of God according to their promise. They summoned all their relatives from the royal and ecclesial lineage, as well as a choir of impeccable virgins. On behalf of the righteous Anne, St. Germanus, Patriarch of Constantinople, says: “I have fulfilled before the Lord the covenant that my mouth made in my sorrow, and because of this I have gathered a choir of virgins with candles, I have called priests, I have gathered my relatives, saying to all, ‘Rejoice with me all, for today I have manifested myself as a mother and as a parent, bringing forth my daughter, not unto the king of the earth, but unto God, the King of Heaven. ‘”

So they departed on a three-day journey from Nazareth to Jerusalem. And when they arrived in Jerusalem, they solemnly entered into the temple – and into the temple, they introduced another temple full of the Holy Spirit, the three-year-old girl, the Most-Pure Virgin Mary. The holy parents, the father on one side and the mother on the other, gently led their God-given Daughter. Saint Theophylact, Archbishop of Ochrid, describes this event in this way: “The daughter forgets her father’s house and is brought to the Emperor, Who yearns for Her beauty. She is brought not without honour and glory, but with an honourable retinue … All Jerusalem gathered to see this miraculous send-off, and sees the three-year-old Virgin, surrounded by so much glory and honoured by such a retinue. “Not only the inhabitants of the earthly Jerusalem, but also of the heavenly Jerusalem, the holy angels, came to see the glorious presentation of the Most-Pure Virgin Mary.”

 Ангелите, гледајќи го влегувањето на Пречистата,

се восхитуваа како Дева влегува во Светињата на светињите.

(стихира од празникот на Голема вечерна)

Така, кога наполнила три години од раѓањето, Нејзините свети праведни родители Јоаким и Ана одлучиле да Ја предадат на служба на Бог според своето ветување. Ги повикале сите свои роднини од царски и архиерејски род, како и хор од беспрекорни девици. Во име на праведната Ана, свети Герман, Патријарх Цариградски, говори: „Го исполнувам пред Господ заветот што го кажа устата моја во мојата тага, и поради тоа собрав хор од девици со свеќи, повикав свештеници, ги собрав роднините, на сите говорејќи им: ’Радувајте се со мене сите, зашто денес се покажав и како мајка и како родителка, приведувајќи Ја својата Ќерка не кон земен цар, туку кон Бог, Царот Небесен‘“.

Така тргнале на тридневно патување од Назарет до Ерусалим. А кога дошле во Ерусалим, тие свечено влегле во храмот и во него го вовеле одуховениот храм Божји, тригодишното девојче, Пречистата Дева Марија. Светите родители, таткото од една и мајката од другата страна, нежно Ја воделе својата богодарувана Ќерка. Свети Теофилакт, Архиепископ Охридски, тоа вака го опишува: „Ќерката заборава на домот на таткото и се приведува кон Царот, Кој копнее по Нејзината убавина. Се приведува не без чест и слава, туку со свечена свита… Сиот Ерусалим се собра да го гледа ова чудесно испраќање, и Ја гледа тригодишната Дева, опкружена со толкава слава и чествувана од таква свита. И не само жителите на земниот Ерусалим, туку и на небесниот Ерусалим, светите ангели, притекнаа за да го видат преславното воведение на Пречистата Дева Марија“.

Somewhere in his works, the holy Elder Joseph Hesychast says: “If you do not attain the grace of God to the greatest extent, do not consider yourself a perfect man.” I say to myself, only a perfected man like St. Gregory Palamas, who lives and presides over the Mystery of the Church, can pronounce from experience the following words about the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary, which are true glorification. I will take heed that he speaks more about Her in this homily than I do.

“She Alone forms the boundary between the created and the Uncreated, and no one can come to God except through Her and the Mediator born from Her, and none of the gifts of God can be bestowed on either angel or man except through Her. ‘God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved’ (Psal. 45, 5).

It is an eternal law of heaven that the lesser shall participate through the greater in that which is above being. Thus, as the Virgin Mother is incomparably greater than all, so many who will partake in God will do so through Her, and as many will know God, they will recognize Her as the One who bore the unplaceable One, and as many will glorify God, and praise Her after Him.

Некаде во своите дела светиот Старец Јосиф Исихаст вели: „Ако не ја достигнеш благодатта Божја во најголема мера, не сметај се себеси за потполн човек“. Си велам, само потполн човек каков што е свети Григориј Палама, кој ја живее и возглавува Тајната на Црквата, може да ги изрече од опит следните зборови за Богородица и Секогашдева Марија, кои се вистинско славословие. Ќе внимавам што повеќе тој да говори за Неа во оваа беседа отколку јас.

„Таа Самата ја образува границата меѓу создаденото и Несоздаденото, и никој не може да дојде до Бог освен преку Неа и Посредникот роден од Неа, и ниеден од даровите Божји не може да биде даруван ниту на ангел ниту на човек, освен преку Неа. ’Бог е среде неа; таа нема да се помести‘ (Псал. 45, 5).

Вечен закон на небото е дека помалото ќе учествува преку повеликото во она што е над суштествувањето. Така, како што Мајката Дева е неспоредливо повелика од сѐ така и многумина што ќе учествуваат во Бог, тоа ќе го направат преку Неа, и како што многумина ќе Го познаат Бог, ќе Ја препознаат Неа како Онаа што Го носеше Несместливиот, и како што многумина ќе Го слават Бог, и Неа ќе Ја воспеваат по Него.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

We have spoken many times about this Gospel reading (Luke 8:26-39), but as they say – repetition is the mother of knowledge, we will talk about its meaning again so for those who have not heard this explanation – may they hear it now. These people were Gadarenes and although by the old law pigs were considered unclean animals and should have not been kept, they disrespected that law and raised them for food. In a figurative sense, the pigs are our passions that we nurture within us. These are the passions of self-indulgence: avariciousness and love for pleasures.

As a result of that sinful life, the demon had great power over them, so that in one of them, and in another Gospel reading it is said that they were two, the demons entered and settled in those people. By the demonic force, they were even resistant to any natural disaster. They could not fit in the community, so they lived alone, in deserted places, in cemeteries, they walked barefoot and although they were chained, they had so much strength that they would tear the chains apart. However, God is merciful and does not forget anyone. Thus He did not forget and He visited these people, who lived in fornication and debauchery. He took pity on the demon-possessed (demoniac) man and ordered the demon to come out of him. However, for the testimony of the others, He asked him what his name was, because God, The Lord Jesus Christ knew that it was not him, but someone else living in him and controlling him. According to the answer, it was not one, but a whole legion, a whole army of demons and that is why that man behaved like that.
