“Living water” is the uncreated grace of God, energy, life, power, light… – Metropolitan of Strumica, Nahum

“Living water” is the uncreated grace of God, energy, life, power, light… At the first level of spiritual development – cleansing the heart from passions, we draw “living water” from the Liturgy and direct it prayerfully through the energy of the mind into the region of the heart; in order to activate the grace of God invested there through Holy Baptism.

At the second level of spiritual development – enlightenment of the mind, we draw “living water” both from the Liturgy and from the prayerful direction of the energy of the mind into the heart; one permeates the other and we become the light of the world.

Furthermore, at the third level of spiritual development – the deification of the person, we draw “living water” from the heart and transfer it to the Liturgy of the Church. Such a person does not need the Liturgy as much as the Liturgy needs such a person.

It is precisely such a deified person – such as the Mother of God, the bearer of the inner, royal and eschatological priesthood, that brought us into this world the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.

The God-Man Jesus Christ brought us the Divine Liturgy, i.e. the Eucharist – the common work of God and the people, the “time and place” in which He does His works. And the Liturgy of the Church is preserved and maintained for us by deified people, bearers of the inner, royal and eschatological priesthood, until the God-Man Jesus Christ, our Lord, becomes all in all.
